The Toy Store is a unique Christmas shopping experience that gives families in financial need a dignified opportunity to purchase new toys and pajamas for their children at $0.20 on the dollar (an item retailing for $10 will be sold for $2).

The Toy Store will take place on Dec. 14 and will be open to families by invitation.

For ways you can get involved in the Toy Store, please see below or email

You can SHOP for items:

  • Shop for toys & pajamas. We also accept gift cards for teens. Please drop off unwrapped gifts in the South Ridge foyer between Wednesday, Nov. 20 and Sunday, Dec. 8.

    • Gift ideas include: Pajamas for all sizes up to age 18, toys/games for all ages (no knives, toy guns, or “weapon-like” toys, please), and $25 gift cards for teens (Old Navy, Walmart, TJ Maxx, Target, Kohl’s, etc).

You can SERVE at the Toy Store:

  • There are lots of ways you can participate before, during or after the Toy Store. A full list of volunteer opportunities will be posted in coming weeks.

You can ORGANIZE a collection drive:

  • Invite coworkers to join you in collecting items. Here are a few fun ideas to get you started:

    • Visual Goals: Set a goal and create a tracking system that your participants can see daily. This can include a thermometer, a chart, etc., so participants can see the progress at meeting the goal.

    • Company Matches: Companies will often match a monetary donation to a charity of choice on behalf of their employees. Check with your Human Resources or Payroll department to see if your company has a matching program.

    • Competitive Spirit: Have various departments compete against one another to see who can collect the most items. Offer a prize such as a popcorn, pizza or ice cream party.

    • Eat In: Encourage your team to skip one meal out and instead use the funds saved from that meal to purchase items for the Toy Store.

    • Jeans for Charity: Set a goal and allow your team members who contribute to wear jeans for one day in support of Toy Store.

    • Gift Card Donation Envelopes: You can distribute these to all team members at the beginning of the toy collection drive.

    • Special Events: If the Toy Store collection drive falls during a special event for your company, you can tie it in by offering discounted admission, a free drink ticket or a special raffle item.
