When God created human beings “in His image,” he gave us the gift of conscience. Government was created to respect rather than replace human conscience. The Bible describes government as “God’s servant,” for the common good (Romans 13:4). Its unique sphere of authority is to protect human beings from harmful behavior and unjust decisions. In cases where governing authorities are overstepping their bounds, acting unjustly, or assuming the role that God has assigned to human conscience, it is right to take a stand against that governing authority. Our first course of action, before breaking the law, must be to take what legal steps are available to us to address the injustice or corruption. At Accelerate this fall, Joe Infranco will share stories of how Alliance Defending Freedom is doing this very thing here in the US. He’ll give us “snapshots” of people standing up for freedom of conscience rather than abdicating conscience to the government.
Join us for Accelerate Weekend on Nov. 9 & 10 as we dig deep into the topic Conscience, Faith & Freedom.
Joe is an attorney and sought-after speaker who has also testified on religious freedom issues before Congress, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, and numerous state and local legislative bodies. Joe now serves as senior counsel and vice president of the Alliance Coordination Team with Alliance Defending Freedom. At Accelerate, he’ll share stories (like the one below) and cases that help us understand the current tensions and threats related to religious freedom here in the United States.
Accelerate Weekend consists of:
