What To Expect at a South Ridge Service
The Worship Service at South Ridge is a time for you to focus on God and be encouraged as you join with others on the journey of discovering who God is and growing closer to Him. As you approach the church entrance, you’ll be greeted warmly by volunteers. Whether you’re looking to try out a Sunday morning Community Group, find a program for your child or teen, or go directly to one of our two services (9:00 and 10:30), our volunteers are trained to anticipate your need and help you meet it.
As you enter the service, you’ll hear people of all ages celebrating God’s greatness through song. Musicians and singers will lead you in songs that blend both old and new expressions of faith in God, as our volunteers compliment the experience with lighting, sound, and video. Some services include dramatic sketches, aimed at opening hearts and minds to God’s voice. You may find yourself laughing, reflecting, or even crying as our team portrays the reality of life.
Each service also features practical and applicable teaching. Our pastors seek to provide a clear and concise look at passages from the Bible in a fresh and engaging way. Messages are meaningful, conversational, and meant to meet the needs of the listener.
From time to time, the service includes other presentations, such as storytelling, illusion, and object lessons. Twice a year, our children put on a full-scale musical with sets, singing, costumes, and choreography.
We also, periodically, practice communion and baptism. Once a month, we take communion. This is a celebration of forgiveness. We remember Jesus’ death for us, by eating bread, representing His body and drinking grape juice, representing His blood. Several times a year, we set aside a portion of the service to baptize those who wish to announce their desire to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Just as Jesus died on the cross, was placed in a tomb, and rose three days later, a person is immersed in water and brought out again. This represents the new life that God gives.
Come and join us! Our service is intentionally designed to meet you where you are at. Because God welcomes each of us to Him, no matter where we've been, we want to be a community that does the same!
