South Ridge takes Jesus' commision in Matthew 28:19 seriously:
"Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit."
Our commitment to intentionally introduce people to Jesus Christ goes beyond the local area to include a worldwide outreach. We currently designate about 18% of our regular offerings for missions outreach.
Many of our global ministries are carried out by individual missionaries. At present we provide partial support for about 26 individuals and families. Several of these have come from our own congregation.
We support work here in the US as well as around the world. About 65% of our missionary dollar goes to missionaries reaching out to foreign people groups, whether here in the US or in foreign countries.
The work that we support covers a very broad range: frontline effort in undeveloped countries to seminary instruction in cultured Europe; from inner city church planting in the US to AIDS relief efforts in Africa; from reaching out to school kids in the hills of Kentucky, to taking care of homeless children in India. And this is only a small glimpse of where we are involved.
In addition to our direct support of missionaries, about 10% of our budget goes to mission agencies. And about 2% is reserved for short term ministry and special needs as they arise.
