Imagine...

raising kids who are growing toward full devotion to Christ, who can meet the challenges their generation faces and be leaders for the Kingdom! Think of a place where children have so much fun learning about how awesome God is that they don't want to miss a single week. Imagine a place where children leave humming lively tunes and singing words that help them remember biblical truths all week; where things like puppets, video, and drama are effectively used to teach these kids about how to live the Christian life at home, at school and in their neighborhoods. Think of a ministry where children are intentionally shepherded in small groups where they are known and loved; where adult volunteers serve with great joy and passion knowing they are influencing the next generation of Christ's followers.

At South Ridge...

it is our vision to be a body of believers teaching and modeling the Word of God to children to promote an understanding of who God is and what His plan is for them. Our mission is to partner with families in leading children into a relationship with Jesus Christ and training them to understand and experience God’s design for their lives. We will not accomplish this on our own, but by relying completely on our Lord and Savior, seeking His direction, and joyfully doing His will in all areas of our children’s programs.

What does South Ridge Offer for Children?

Something for everyone! We have high-energy, Biblically-based programs for every age group:

  • Promiseland Nursery (Birth to 2 Years Old) – Sunday mornings, 9:00 and 10:30
  • Promiseland Tykes (2 Years to Pre-Kindergarten) – Sunday mornings, 9:00 and 10:30
  • Promiseland Central (Kindergarten to Fifth Grade) – Sunday mornings, 9:00 & 10:30
  • S.O.S. (Sixth Grade) – Sunday mornings, 9:00
  • Promiseland Music & Drama (First to Sixth Grade) – Sunday mornings, 10:30, September-May (Excluding January)
  • Awana (3 Years to 11 Years) – Wednesday evenings, 6:15-8:00, September-May
  • Vacation Bible School (Four Years to Fifth Grade) – First full week of summer break

We believe children’s ministries should be:

  • Child-targeted
  • Done with excellence
  • A safe place for children, physically, emotionally and spiritually
  • Biblically sound, and taught with relevance, creativity and application
  • A model of an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Led by a Godly, consistent Ministry Team of servant-leaders

Here are some things you’ll want to know...

Equal to our desire to provide an engaging, Biblically-based program is our total commitment to your child’s safety, health and well-being while in our care. We have the following policies in place to help us follow through on that commitment.

  • Our Safety Policy governs our selection of children’s ministry volunteers and guides how we interact with your child.
  • Our Sick Policy is designed to help keep your child – and your whole family – healthy.
  • Our Discipline Policy establishes gentle guidelines for helping a child who is having a rough day.
  • Our Numbering System provides a convenient way for us to summon you if your child needs you – and helps us properly identify children with the right parents!
  • Notes from the Teacher are for letting you know if something interesting, exciting, fun or noteworthy happens while your child is with us.
  • Boo Boo Reports are to inform you if your child gets a minor bump or bruise that does not require your immediate attention.

Here are some things you can do for us...

Familiarize yourself with our policies. Knowing how and why we do things will help make your Sunday morning go smoothly. When you bring your child to Promiseland, we will give you a copy of our policies so you can read through them and ask any questions you might have. We’d be more than happy to talk to you.

Tell us about your child. When you bring your child to Promiseland, we'll ask you to fill out a brief information sheet. This allows us to better know your child and any special instructions you may have -- allergies, special needs, potty instructions, etc. We also need to have written authorization on who is permitted to pick up your child. Please note that, in keeping with our safety policy, we will not release your child to anyone who is not at least in 6th Grade or older.

Toy alert. We ask that your child not bring any of his/her toys to any children’s ministry activity. The toys often get misplaced or other children want to play with your child’s “special” item and it can make for an unhappy morning.

Can You Help?

Our Promiseland Ministries continue to grow on a weekly basis. We would ask that you prayerfully consider your area of involvement in this vital ministry. We are always looking for committed people to join our team and serve on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis. Service begins as a commitment to a task, but results in spiritual growth and personal blessing. If you would like to volunteer or for more information, contact Dori Parker, Director of Children’s Ministries, at (908) 735-5252 or dparker@southridgecc.org.
