Frequently Asked Questions

What curriculum do you use?

We purchase materials from a wide variety of Christian publishers, as well as some secular ones. We examine and evaluate all major publishers for content, presentation of material, and consistency with the philosophy of Christian education. We depend on our Christian faculty to infuse Christian perspectives and values in all subject areas.

What about student transportation?

The school does not provide transportation to or from school. The majority of our parents have car pooling arrangements; we try to assist new families in finding a car pool that is convenient for them. The State of New Jersey does not provide transportation to CCA. However, depending on where you live, you may be eligible to receive a transportation reimbursement for every child enrolled in the school. This is paid directly from the State to the parents.

Do you have a hot lunch program?

Hot lunch is provided daily, and the selection varies from month to month. Meals are planned by a staff lunch coordinator, keeping in mind the preferences and health of our students. Many dedicated volunteers also assist the program.

What are your hours?

The school day starts at 8:45 am and concludes at 3:15 pm.

Do you offer extended care?

Yes. This program is available to all full time students in the morning and/or the afternoon for a small hourly fee. Call the school office for details.

What are your class sizes?

Our class sizes vary from year to year and from class to class. The average class size is 18 students. We feel that our smaller classes allow for greater interaction between teacher and student.

Do you use a traditional program?

Yes. Crossroads uses a traditional classroom structure and educational approach. We specifically and systematically teach phonics, reading, and mathematics. In addition to Bible and traditional core subjects, we offer Music, Art, Spanish, Computer, Library, and Physical Education as part of our curriculum.

With whom are you affiliated?

Crossroads Christian Academy is a ministry of the South Ridge Community Church and is incorporated under its charter. We adhere to the Statement of Faith of South Ridge. Crossroads Christian Academy is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), and the Mid-Atlantic Christian Schools Association (MACSA).

What is the cost of the program?

Financial information has been included on this web site outlining all the costs of the program (see Financial Information). Please be aware that the actual cost of educating your child is greater than the tuition and fees that are charged. Therefore, we rely upon contributions from those who support our ministry as well as various fundraising activities.
